{"id":1045,"date":"2025-04-03T13:25:10","date_gmt":"2025-04-03T13:25:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oorsterpark.nl\/?p=1045"},"modified":"2025-10-01T12:40:54","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T10:40:54","slug":"1-juni-oosterpark-dag","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oorsterpark.nl\/en\/1-juni-oosterpark-dag\/","title":{"rendered":"Flashback: Oosterpark Day \u2013 June 1, 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday, June 1, Oosterpark was transformed into the beating heart of Amsterdam Oost during Oosterpark Day 2025\u2014a festive and connecting initiative by\u00a0<strong>Amsterdam East District<\/strong>in co-production with <strong>Roots<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Saturday, June 1, Oosterpark was fully dedicated to connection, culture, and community spirit during&nbsp;<strong>Oosterpark day 2025<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 a festive initiative by&nbsp;<strong>Amsterdam East District<\/strong>in co-production with&nbsp;<strong>Roots<\/strong>The park was alive with activities, gatherings, and performances, showcasing the vibrant diversity of Amsterdam Oost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day was made even more special by two festive and meaningful openings:<br>The renovated: <strong>Nationaal\u00a0Monument Slavernijverleden (National Slavery Monument)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 which provides space for reflection and awareness around the shared history of slavery. This site was officially opened by <strong>executive Jan-Bert Vroege<\/strong>\u00a0on behalf of\u00a0<strong>Amsterdam East District<\/strong>, together with\u00a0<strong>Wendeline Flores<\/strong>, board member of <strong>NiNsee<\/strong>. The unveiling was accompanied by spoken word from artist N\u00d8\u00cbL.<br>Also, the inauguration of <strong>Parkhart<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the new public restrooms in the park \u2013 was officially opened by <strong>Jan-Bert Vroege<\/strong>Parkhart is a practical and symbolic step towards a more welcoming and inclusive Oosterpark. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to these highlights, the program offered a rich array of cultural performances, dance, sports, workshops, and activities for children. From live music and dance shows to neighborhood stalls and information booths\u2014there was something for everyone to enjoy. The atmosphere was open, welcoming, and festive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to the efforts of local creators, neighborhood organizations, volunteers, and partners, Oosterpark Day became a day to be proud of.
